Wellness Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! I can't believe another week has already come.

I had an interesting experience this past week while on a business trip in California. I slid onto a jam-packed elevator and jokingly said, don't worry, I'll think skinny thoughts. An older lady on the elevator looked at me and said, you don't need to think skinny thoughts- you are skinny! I opened my mouth to respond and before I could say a single word, she interrupted me and said, "Nope, just say thank you". Again, I went to respond and was cut off with the words, "just say thank you." So I did. I said thank you and shut my mouth.

This experience got me thinking- we are all striving to be gentle with our own souls and more compassionate to those around us but do we allow them to genuinely compliment us? Do we try to dismiss their kindness with a returned compliment or a brush off?

Why is it difficult for us to just say thank you?

I've made it a goal this week and am challenging all of you to the same- give genuine compliments to those around you and ACCEPT compliments given to you with a simple thank you.

As we work on accepting positive compliments from those around us, it will help us to see how other people see us which will help us to start practicing self love.

So, I will start- you are an extraordinary person- there is no one on this earth quite like you. You are unique and valued. The world needs you- your friends/family needs you- I need you. You add beauty and humility to my life.

Much love to you all-

Happy Wednesday-

Stef

Wellness Wednesday

I have contemplated all week what I want to share for this Wellness Wednesday. I keep coming back to a quote:

You alone are the judge of your worth and your goal is to discover infinite worth in yourself, no matter what anyone else thinks. -Deepak Chopra

I just want to tell you, YOU are amazing. YOU are needed. YOU are loved. YOU are special and unique and valued.

All because YOU are YOU.

Just spend a moment tonight, tomorrow and in the coming days thinking about how wonderful YOU are.

On this journey to wholeness, when you understand your worth, you treat yourself and others with compassion and more gently. When you treat yourself and others with compassion and more gently, they will treat themselves and you with compassion and more gently. It is a domino effect.

The challenge for this week, so you can learn your own worth-do not say one mean thing about yourself. Not one. If you accidentally slip up, instantly replace it with 3 positive things. Try it- you may be surprised at how difficult it is to be nice to yourself.

I promise you this- it will change you for the better.

Much love to you all-

Happy Wednesday,

Stef

Wellness Wednesday

Wholeness is not just a physical thing. Wholeness also includes self-awareness and self-evaluation.

I listened to a TED Talk by Brene Brown that has really stuck with me and I want to share it with all of you. It is worth the 20 minutes to listen.

After listening to this talk, I’ve been contemplating a few thoughts; what do I shame myself with? How do I put myself down with shame? Why do I shame myself? Does it add value or beauty to my life?

When I am honest with myself- I shame myself because I am afraid of being seen as a failure. I shame myself with feelings of not being good enough, of being the reason my ex left, of showing weakness and fear, of being alone.

I don’t want to be perceived as damaged.

As I thought on shame and realized how I have shamed myself and become my own worst critic, I realized I was allowing shame a huge home in my subconscious. Do you know what? I decided no more! It is time to be honest about my shame and allow myself to be vulnerable with all of you.

I am no longer going to allow shame from my past to have any part of my present or any effect on my future.
I am working every day to remove fear and be daring and vulnerable.

I will start treating myself with gentleness, empathy and kindness.

So, the question is this- what do you shame yourself with? What negative self-doubt are you circulating through your brain hoping no one will ever know how you really feel? When you discover the root of your shame (since we all have it), what are you going to do to defeat shame and allow vulnerability to be a balm to your soul?

Recognize there is no reason for shame in your life! You are amazing, wonderful and whole.
Today is the day to start practicing self-love and acceptance. Today is YOUR day to start your journey to wholeness!

Happy Wednesday! I hope your day is filled with happiness!

~Stef
